Ten Things To Be Excited About This Summer

22 05 2012

Gosh.. It’s been a looonnnggg time since I’ve posted anything. Which is a shame. It is. Well, here’s my list of the ten things (or reasons) that I’m super excited about this Summer!

  1. I do believe the NO SCHOOL part should be first on the list. Just saying.
  2. Trip to EUROPE!!! I leave in 15 days! Now this is strictly for me I guess, unless any of you readers are traveling to Europe this summer. And if you are, comment away! Tell me where you’re going!
  3. I was accepted into MITES (Minority Introduction to Engineering and Science). It’s a six week program at MIT this summer. Super excited!
  4. Teen Wolf returns to T.V. on June 3rd after the MTV (something awards) (p.s. sorry, I didn’t pay attention, I was too busy freaking out over getting to see Tyler Posey shirtless again….. ;D)
  5. HMMM….SHORTS! My wonderful mother and I are going to try to make some shorts out of some spare fabric we have. Sooo, if anybody has any tips, they would be much appreciated :)
  6. Ditto for a dress. Any tips would be MUCHO appreciated :) I guess I should say that Summer is the best time to undergo some D.I.Y. projects! So get D.I.Y.ing !!!
  7. Whether you are traveling out of the country, state, or even city, you get to meet new people!! Yay! Hopefully not the creepy weird sort of people! Preferably super hot ones! Okay!
  8. If you are a student like me, best part about Summer is all the free time. And all the wonderful opportunities to fill that time with different things to do.
  9. Movies. Not sure which ones are coming out this summer, but I’m thinking the Spiderman movie (with Andrew Garfield) and The Dark Knight Rises (BATMAN). I’m pretty sure there are other movies worth going to go see
  10. Well deserved SLEEP.

Stop! Ukulele Time!

21 03 2012

So, I’m still at my house, still bored, still doing nothing and procrastinating for some scholarship essays I’m supposed to be writing. Of course, that means that I have been playing my ukulele alll day and searching YouTube for ukulele tutorials and what not. Here’s a video of a song I sort of knew, but now I know. It’s sort of a medley between Drop Baby Drop and Honey Baby.

And here are ten more random things I’m going to talk about.

  1. For one, I have an uncanny resemblance to the girl in this video. Just saying. Except for the singing. I’m decent but not that good.
  2. I put some feathers in my sister’s hair. It’s actually pretty easy. Just go to Hobby Lobby or any other craft store and they should have feathers and small circular things they call hair links. All you have to do is slide the hair link into your hair, place a feather in the hair link, and squeeze the link shut. TA-DAH!
  3. It finally stopped raining. Let me tell you, it rained ALL day yesterday (ALL night too).
  4. Did I mention how much I love playing my ukulele. I do. A LOT.
  5. So, these scholarship essays I’m supposed to be writing tells me to describe three unique factors that have most shaped who I am. These three factors can be obstacles I have faced, passions I have developed etc. I have decided that my three factors are going to be that : I am allergic to ants, My racial identity (Hispanic-American), and a passion I have developed-playing my ukulele!
  6. I forgot to mention completely! The juniors in my school had to take this test called the ASVAB. Apparently I got the highest score (83) in my school! To bad I’ve never really had an interest in pursuing a career in the armed forces.
  7. I really want to go shopping right now.
  8. My favorite ice cream flavor is Cookies and Cream.
  9. My dream guy is funny, smart, and preferably has an accent.
  10. I’m a Sagittarius.

You know what? I’m really bored, so someone please comment or something. Give me ideas or inspiration.

Hello Old Chums!!!

20 03 2012

Hmmm. I haven’t had the time to blog recently, which really does suck. But anyhoos, here are ten things that have been going down recently. Oh! and happy Spring Break everyone! Well, I realize that not everyone is on Spring Break but I am so….

  1. I’m going to learn how to speak Italian. Remember that London, Paris, and Barcelona trip I’ve talked about? Unfortunately, not enough people signed up for that trip. So, I am now going to Rome, Florence, and Tuscany, Italy as well as London and Paris. It doesn’t help that the only Italian words I know are pizza, spaghetti, pasta, and cheese.
  2. Prom is going to be April 28th and I’m torn between a black dress and a gold one. Although, I kind of prefer the gold dress. So, I’m gonna pick the gold one. I think.
  3. I’ve been very bored lately so I started making a pair of shorts. D.I.Y. and junk. So, I don’t know where my mom put the sewing machine,  so I tried my hand at sewing by hand….. NOT a pretty result. But then what do you know! My wonderful father found the sewing machine, so I’m tearing out two hours worth of stitches and picking up where I left off tomorrow. ;)
  4. Now that I’m on the D.I.Y. topic…..If you like to sew and make clothes and other things go to www.burdastyle.com They have lots of free patterns for lots of projects. It’s a very interesting site. Oh and before I forget here’s a heads up ,they make you sign up and make an account before you can access any of the patterns. If you do sign up (like I did about 3 days ago), look for me! My user name is chelyaguirre15.
  5. SAY NO TO DRUGS. Just saying. If it wasn’t for all the pot smokers and crack heads in this country, I would be enjoying my Spring Break in Mexico!
  6. SAY NO TO THE SELLING OF FIREARMS TO DRUG DEALERS IN MEXICO. You know, one thing nobody ever really thinks about….Where do all the drug dealers get their guns? They purchase them from people in the United States! Oh and Mexico is not okay! Empty streets are NOT okay. Scared people are NOT okay. Several stories of abducted and murdered people is NOT okay. The drug problem in Mexico is a problem for the United States, seeing as the several addicted people in the U.S. are the ones who are providing money and weapons to the drug dealers. I should stop venting now. Sorry, this topic just makes me a little bit irritated.
  7. My toes are painted a pretty sparkly purple/pink color.  I lurve it!
  8. I have discovered that if left unchecked, I could very much harbor an obsession for heels. I guess it’s the girl coming out in me!
  9. Speaking of girls, here’s something that just came to mind….”I have a skinny girl inside of me, screaming to get out, but I can usually shut her up with cookies…” Hehe, comedy gold people, comedy gold.
  10. You know what, I don’t know what’s with this list thing. But I can’t get that stupid 11 to erase. So we are just going to have to deal with it. Ha! Never mind, I got it! Well anyways I might be going to watch the Hunger Games. Once I do, I promise to blog about ten things I remember about the movie. Don’t be surprised if over 50% of it is about Liam what’s his name. All I know is that if there is not a shirtless scene with Mr. Liam Hunky, then I will be sorely disappointed. The sad thing is, he’s not really going to be in the movie alot, because he wasn’t really in the first book a lot. :(

ADIOS! My chums, amigos, peeps (etc.)! Formaggio!!!( I think that’s Italian for cheese, but what do I know?)

Stop Kony 2012

10 03 2012

I haven’t posted anything in a while but after watching the video Kony 2012, I was compelled to blog and spread the word out in anyway I could (and can). To begin with, many people don’t know who Joseph Kony is. To put things simply, he is evil.He is the world’s worst war criminal. Joseph Kony first came to power in Uganda when he took over leadership of an existing rebel group in 1987. He renamed the group the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA). When Kony found himself running out of fighters, he started abducting children to be sex-slaves and soldiers. The boys are forced to become members of the LRA while the girls are raped and made into sex slaves. The children soldiers are forced to kill people, beginning with their parents. They are encouraged and forced to kill, rape, and mutilate innocent people.  The LRA is no longer active in northern Uganda (its orignination) but ,it has spread to other places. For over 26 years, Joseph Kony and the LRA have abducted more than 30,000 children and displaced at least 2.1 million people. He must be stopped. This is where the organization Invisible Children and the Kony 2012 campaign come in.

As their website says….

“INVISIBLE CHILDREN’S KONY 2012 CAMPAIGN AIMS TO MAKE JOSEPH KONY FAMOUS, NOT TO CELEBRATE HIM, BUT TO RAISE SUPPORT FOR HIS ARREST AND SET A PRECEDENT FOR INTERNATIONAL JUSTICE…”

And they are doing just that. At this time, U.S. military advisers are currently deployed in Central Africa on a ‘time-limited’ mission to help stop Ugandan forces stop Kony and disarm the LRA. However, those military advisers can be called back if the U.S. government does not feel that the mission is important enough to the American people. Kony 2012 is fighting to make enlighten people about the evils and atrocities of the LRA and their leader Joseph Kony. They have recruited 20 ‘culture-makers’ such as Oprah, Mark Zuckerberg, Tim Tebow, Angelina Jolie, Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber….Kony 2012 also is asking everyone to target 12 ‘policy-makers’ (the people that can make the policies to keep the military advisers in Uganda there). They are senators, previous presidents, cabinet members……  Kony 2012 makes it easy to message, contact, and call all 12 policy makers.

If everyone were to unite and strive to stop Kony, it could be done. And it will be done. I believe that no child or person should ever live in fear of being killed or captured. Nobody  should ever be forced to kill anyone or be a sex slave. Everybody deserves a happy life. This is why I am writing about Kony 2012‘s message. As I see it, it is the first step of many to make the world a better place. If we can all be united in this cause, we can be united in others. We can solve world hunger and bring about world peace. Kony 2012 has given me hope. So please, follow the next ten steps.

  1. Visit www.Kony2012.com
  2. Watch the video.
  3. Join the fight to stop Kony. Find out about the several events they are going to hold.
  4. Get the word out. Tell people at your school. Post on Facebook, Twitter and other social networking sites. Blog about it!
  5. Purchase the Kony 2012 kit.
  6. Advocate. Get your school involved. Now that I know about Kony, I will do something about it.
  7. Talk. Talk. Talk. I can’t stress how important it is to get Kony 2012′s message out.
  8. Join Tri, and donate to Kony 2012′s cause.
  9. Purchase some cool merchandise. The t-shirts and bracelets look awesome.
  10. Be thankful for your safety and well-being. Oh and talk some more.

The Challenge….(Dun, Dun, Duuunnnnn)

22 01 2012

Alrighty, as you all know (or maybe you don’t, I really have no idea) I am off to London, Paris, and Barcelona in 135 days (and yes I’m already counting down). I’m taking the trip with my French teacher and the trip has been a very common discussion topic during class. Now, let me explain to you why I decided to make this blog post about my trip. My French 2 class is crazy. We are all crazy psycho people who all have wonderful senses of humor ;D. One day, while talking about the trip we brought up the people I will meet. It was then decided that I was to have a boyfriend from London, a boyfriend from Paris named Jean-Pierre ,and a boyfriend from Barcelona named Alejandro. It was apparently so funny because they call me Saint Aracely, the one who never does bad and would never have three boyfriends. Of course, we were all joking about it, and it has now become an inside joke, but how hard could it be to find three guys? (P.S. the name of the guy from London is still under debate). So, now I am faced with a challenge. When I’m off to Europe, I must find three guys who are handsome, and are named Jean-Pierre, Alejandro, and Mystery Guy from London. I believe I can do it, don’t you?

Oh and also, I couldn’t think of anything to put in a top ten list but I just got a wonderful idea. Anybody who happens to read this MUST comment and give me a challenge for when I go to Europe. Then, when I get back and accomplish my ten challenges, I can blog all about them. It’s  a win-win situation. So, help me make my trip one of the best ever! Adios, Adieu, and Goodbye!!! ;)

P.S.S. I’ve got 135 days to get 9 (or more) challenges. So please, please, please help me out here ;)

Ten Movies You Should See

13 01 2012

Alright, I know I haven’t posted in a while. But, I have no time, so here goes ten movies you should see (if you haven’t already). And if you haven’t already shame on you. Just kidding. Read on my readers, read on.

  1. Avatar – One of the most talked about movies. If you have not seen it already, do so. Just so at least you can learn about the big blue people who live on Pandora. And no, they are not the Smurfs.
  2. The Hurt Locker – I enjoyed this movie, even though it was kind of hard for me to get into. All the suspense however will definitely  keep you awake and watching.
  3. Hangover 2 – Okay, if you have not yet seen the first Hangover movie, do so. They are pretty funny. However, don’t go expecting an extremely entertaining work of film. It’s just made to make people laugh. So laugh. Because you definitely will.
  4. Pride and Prejudice – It’s my favorite book and Mr. Darcy (Daahhccyy) is handsome. What other reason should I need?
  5. Titanic – Shame on you if you haven’t seen it. It’s one of the most iconic movies of all time. Comment if you haven’t seen it. I would like to know one of the few people who haven’t seen Titanic.
  6. Taken – Here’s a short overview. Girl goes to Paris, gets kidnapped. Dad goes to Paris, turns out he’s some kind of Secret Agent (or something like that). Dad kicks bad people’s butt. It’s a pretty good movie if you ask me.
  7. Unleashed – Don’t know how to explain it, just look it up. It should have Jet Li in it.
  8. The Rite – Creepy, creepy. This movie is inspired by true events. I believe it is in Italy, and it’s all about exorcisms.
  9. The Devil – Some people get stuck in an elevator, and one of them is the devil. Interesting.
  10. The Changeling – Is probably my favorite movie. It’s a film directed by Clint Eastwood and it is based on true events. A woman pretty much takes on the LAPD after they do not find her missing son. Extremely good movie. As a matter of fact, check out other films that Clint Eastwood has directed, they are all pretty good.

You know, if you have anything you want to say about the movies, or ask why they are on my list comment away. I’ll answer. Maybe. Of course I will. Why wouldn’t I?………

Adios!!!!

ILY (Idiots Like You)

17 12 2011

Forgive me, dear readers, for I have not posted in a while. So, inspiration for this post was given to me by staring intently at my school desk (while I should have been listening to my teacher). Scribbled on the surface of my desk where the three letters ILY with a little heart underneath. Of course, a person could infer that what the personwho vandalized school property was trying to say was I Love You. But, because I am a completely awesome and creative person (and because I felt like being difficult), I made a list of ten things ILY might mean…..

  1. Idiots Like You..
  2. I Love Yogurt
  3. I Loathe You!
  4. Iguanas Like Yellow
  5. Illegal Love of Yorkies
  6. I’m Leaving You
  7. I Love the Yankees (which I don’t)
  8. Imported Llamas Yearly
  9. Institution of the Loving Yammerheisers (hehe ;D)
  10. Immature Loser of the Year

So, if you can think of any other statements ILY could stand for, go ahead and comment. Also, I kind of want to do this again, so supply me with a couple of letters and let’s see what I can do. Gracias MUCHO!!!
